Hourglass Sleeves

Hourglass sleeves are shaped with smooth, rounded edges that can be crimped on the end of fraying wire ropes or stainless-steel cables. They are most commonly used for industrial and marine applications.

Hourglass sleeves are made of several different types of metals:

• Aluminum
• Copper
• Zinc over Copper

Aluminum hourglass sleeves are ideal for galvanized steel cable, but not stainless cables. This is the most economical sleeve for loops or lap splices.

Copper hourglass sleeves are ideal for stainless steel cable fasteners.

Zinc over copper hourglass sleeves are the most resistant to corrosion and rust, thanks to the galvanized plating. This finish is optimal for stainless steel cable. When hourglass sleeves are properly swaged and sealed, they are capable of maintaining up to 90% of the cable’s original breaking strength.
